Green Buildings in Uzbekistan: Technologies, Legal framework and Incentives

Ways to improve technologies and create incentives to increase energy efficiency of buildings were major issues of the Media Briefing discussion conducted on February 10, 2012 at the Center for Economic Research.

The event featured representatives of key media outlets and experts in order to reveal key findings and results of the “Green buildings in Uzbekistan: technologies, legal framework and incentives” Policy brief, developed by the Center for Economic Research with the assistance of UNDP/GEF "Promoting Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Uzbekistan" project.

EEPB showcased pilot building to senior management

UN Resident Coordinator Stefan Priesner and representatives of UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO and UNAIDS have recently visited pilot school of EEPB in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 

The school is located at Beskopir community of Kanlikul district, and was retrofitted and equipped with energy efficient/energy saving technical solutions.

Testing Laboratory Opened in Yerevan

Aiming to promote energy efficient construction in Armenia, UNDP-GEF “Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings” project has been partnering with “Shincertificate” LLC with the goal to improve the existing system of testing and certification of construction insulation materials.

One of the results of the collaboration is the opening of the laboratory for testing thermal-physical parameters of construction materials which took place in “Shincertificate” LLC premises on March 29th. UNDP-GEF project assisted in procurement of state of art laboratory equipment with the total value of 7 million AMD, while the company co-financed renovation and furnishing of the laboratory.

EEPB conducts the meeting with the media

EEPB conducted the working meeting with representative of local media resources on Friday, April 5.

The meeting was held in the Tashkent architecture and construction Institute in participation of our 15 main media partners, including UzDaily.uz, Mezon.uz, Turkiston Press, Darakchi, Tasvir, Radio Tashkent, Radio Mashal, EcoNews, Economic Review, Adolat, and others.

EEPB starts construction of EE rural house

Energy Efficiency project  received the order of Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan addressed to (i) Gosarchitectstroy, (ii) the state bank specialized in financing rural construction “KishlokkurilishBank”, (iii) Single State Customer of rural construction “KishlokkurilishInvest” and (iv) the state design organization, author of designs of approved rural houses “KishlokkurilishLoyiha”, on design and co-financing the construction of 1 pilot rural house located in Tashkent region.

This website is the initiative of the GEF/UNDP Projects on Promoting Energy Efficiency in Construction sectors of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The respective Projects were launched in these countries during 2008-2009.

The UNDP/GEF Projects express interests of international community to energy efficiency in buildings since such attention provides for significant advantages in climate change mitigation effect. Countries of Central Asia and Armenia can contribute to achieving international goals in GHG emissions, while improved energy efficiency secures long-term economy of funds, support healthier economy and improve welfare of people.
